Community Building

Community building enables a school to move initiatives forward. Staff members need to connect to an idea or new program and have ownership of it to bring about change. I am a team builder. My strategy is to engage teachers to feel empowered to participate in the process and to feel valued for their work. Snacks are served at meetings to help keep teachers happy.  Below are some examples of recent projects.

Mattlin Connects

Mattlin Connects is an amazing committee that brings staff together; like a family at the dinner table. Our mission is to strengthen our staff connections especially during these unique times, while keeping with the "Leader In Me" best practices.

Family STEAM Night Program: More than 1000 participants joined together with 130 POBJFK high school students, 37 faculty members, Administration, Central Office, and our PTA. The atmosphere in the building was electric as the entire Plainview-Old Bethpage community took part in a night of making, exploring, learning and fun for K-8 students and their families.
Keys to Success Brochure: This brochure highlights the work our staff engages in to promote 21st-century skills. It was a collaborative project with principals, chair people, a STEAM lead teacher, and the art and digital instruction director to spot light what we are doing district-wide to elevate each student's potential.
